The objective of this randomized clinical trial was to evaluate and compare the efficacy of three different routes of lidocaine administration in dogs: 1) bilateral infraorbital nerve block (INB); 2) bilateral topical intranasal application (TIA); and 3) intravenous bolus (IVB). After premedication with medetomidine 0.01 mg kg-1 and methadone 0.2 mg kg-1 intramuscularly, anaesthesia was induced with propofol and maintained with isoflurane in oxygen.
