Encephalitozoon cuniculi infection in rabbits represents a true challenge in both diagnosis and treatment of the disease. This study aimed to describe and analyze all methods of identifying the presence of the microsporidian in a rabbit through antemortem and postmortem methods. A 5-year-old male, neutered, vaccinated against myxomatosis and rabbit hemmhoragic disease strain 1 (RHDV1), and of mixed breed, was presented to the Clinic of New Companion Animals of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Cluj–Napoca, Romania, as an emergency.
